Trail South End Construction Update
|
Construction on The Loop Plaza at the south end of the Katy Trail is scheduled to begin on January 22. The retaining wall at Houston Street will be turned into an open space that will connect Katy Trail users with the recently completed Hi Line Connector and surrounding neighborhoods. A portion of the Trail will be closed during this construction, and there will be an alternate route to access the Trail. Signage and reroute information will direct Trail users to this route.

The Greenscape Fund promotes the ongoing growth of the natural beauty of the Katy Trail. Friends of the Katy Trail thanks these $1,000+ donors to the Greenscape Fund in 2024:

Cold weather is here! Here are some tips for winter on the Trail:
- Dress for the weather! Layering will help to keep your body heat insulated and make exercise more comfortable.
- Cover extremities - head, hands, and feet. Wearing hats, gloves, scarves, and thick socks will greatly improve your experience on a chilly day.
- Stay hydrated. Even in the wintertime, when we are physically active, we can become dehydrated from lack of fluids.
- Don’t forget to stretch. Before any physical activity, it is important to make sure your muscles are prepared. Walking and running are no different. Stretch your leg muscles as well as your back and core before setting out on the Trail - your body will thank you later!
- If you walk at night, wear reflective clothing so that you are easier to identify. Also, try to walk with a buddy.
- Watch for slippery conditions. Wet leaves on the ground can sometimes be as slick as icy patches.
